RAF CENTENARY CONCERT

The Barbican 11th Jun

Celebrate the RAF’s 100th anniversary with the London Concert Choir, as they perform some of best classical music by British composers in the last century at the Barbican.

Listen to stunning pieces by Parry, Walton and Britten, as well as new work by Roderick Williams.

SOUNDS LIKE LONDON

Enjoy a month of concerts, workshops and events, as the Mayor of London’s Sounds Like London festival takes over the capital this June.

Sounds Like London celebrates the capital’s grassroots venues and up-and-coming talent. In the centenary year of the women’s right to vote, the festival also highlights the important contribution made by women in the music industry.

It is part of the mayor’s campaign for gender equality, #BehindEveryGreatCity. Supporters and ambassadors include DJs Annie Mac and Abbie McCarthy, as well as artists Vanessa White and KT Tunstall.

ATHLETICS WORLD CUP

London Stadium, 14th & 15th Jul

Watch your favourite athletics stars compete in two nights of track and field events during the inaugural Athletics World Cup at London Stadium.

The groundbreaking event takes place across two evening sessions at the iconic venue in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, pitting the world’s top eight athletics nations against each other in track and field disciplines.

Just one man and one woman from each nation are selected in each of the individual events, which include everything from discus and high jump, to 1500m and 100m races. See athletes from China, France, Germany, Great Britain, Jamaica, Poland, South Africa and USA battle it out for the $2 million prize fund.

UDDERBELLY FESTIVAL SOUTH BANK

South Bank, until 30th Sep

Enjoy a fun-packed festival of live entertainment and al-fresco eating and drinking at Underbelly Festival in South Bank.

In 2017, the Udderbelly Festival and London Wonderground were joined together in a huge season of top live acts, forming the Underbelly Festival. Stretching throughout the summer, the festival returns for the 10th year with stages full of affordable circus, theatre, cabaret, comedy, music and children’s shows on the south bank of the Thames.

You can also drop by the free-to-enter festival site to tuck into street food from the riverside vendors and grab a drink at one of London’s biggest outdoor bars.

ART NIGHT

Follow a trail of art across south London during the all-night arts festival, Art Night.

Now in its third edition, Art Night presents a free one-night programme of contemporary art, performance, music and architecture, which takes place from early evening until dawn and moves to a different part of London each year.

Curated by the Hayward Gallery to celebrate its 50th anniversary, this year’s event sees art projects running along the Thames from Southbank Centre, through Vauxhall and Nine Elms, to Battersea Power Station.

NOTTING HILL CARNIVAL

Notting Hill, 25th - 27th Aug

Join London’s biggest street party as the Notting Hill Carnival fills the streets of west London with Caribbean colours, music and flavours.

Watch elaborate floats and colourful costumed performers wind their way through the streets in the carnival parade, dance to the sound of steel bands and calypso music, and visit the tempting food stalls along the route.
